The Zodiac and the Gospel - Chapter 3 Scorpio

Corresponds with the tribe of Dan

Hebrew - ahk-RAHV - meaning conflict or war 

This constellation depicts a scorpion attempting to sting the heal of a mighty man who grinds his heal into the scorpion's heart while wrestling with the serpent. The Arabic meaning is wounding him that comes. Here are some images that show this representation:

In the Bible Satan repeatedly tries to destroy the seed of Abraham and fails. Even Haman in the book of Esther wanted Jesus's people killed. There are many verses that point to this. Lets take a look at a few.

The Spirit then compelled Jesus to go into the wilderness, where He was tempted by Satan for forty days. He was out among the wild animals and the angels took care of Him.Mark 1:12-13

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil. For forty days and forty nights he fasted and became very hungry. During that time the devil came and said to Him, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread." 

But Jesus told him, "No! The Scriptures say, 'People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" 

Then the devil took him to the holy city, Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple, and said, "If you are the Son of God, jump off! For the Scriptures say, 'He will order his angels to protect you. And they will hold you up with their hands so you won't even hurt your foot on a stone.'" 

Jesus responded, "The Scriptures also say, 'You must not test the LORD your God.'" Next the devil took him to the peak of a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. "I will give it all to you," he said, "if you will kneel down and worship me."

"Get out of here, Satan," Jesus told him. "For the Scriptures say, 'You must worship the LORD your God and serve only him.'"

 The devil went away, and angels came and took care of Jesus.

Then Jesus spoke to the leading priests, the captains of the Temple guard, and the elders who had come for him, "Am I some dangerous revolutionary," he asked, "that you come with swords and clubs to arrest me? Why didn't you arrest me in the Temple? I was there every day. But this is your moment, the time when the power of darkness reigns."     Luke 22:52-53

 We even see this Satanic spirit in our world and societies around the globe in more modern times. The pattern of Satan attempting wrestle for power with God and his people has been evident toward the hatred of Jews in the Inquisition, Klu Klux Klan, Holocaust, Nazism, Islamic Jihadists, and countless other forms of anti-Semitism spanning the centuries.

On the cross Jesus was wounded on the heel where the serpent, Satan, struck the woman's seed, but at the Resurrection He destroyed the work of Satan forever.

I find it interesting that this constellation corresponds with the tribe of Dan because they are the one tribe that lost status with God do to their disobedience and weakness with idolatry. In fact, they were guilty of gross idolatry and total rejection of God for 500 years. Jacob's son, Dan is mentioned in 1 Chronicles 2:2, but he doesn't have a place as a tribe when it comes to Revelation 7:4-8 as a people group who is supernaturally protected by God during the Tribulation. This tribe was given over to the ways of the world and Satan, and it's curious to me that this scorpion would be the one tribe associated with that particular tribe.
