Proverbs 31 Wife Introduction
Give Yourself Grace:
As we dive into the Proverbs 31 wife portion of these devotions know that there is grace abounding for you as a wife, mother, and child of God. Even though this is a portion of Scripture written a long time ago, Scripture is for all people, for all times. There is something in here for each of us.
This chapter, although it may appear to be works-based, needs to be tackled one devotion at a time with close examination of our hearts, but an even closer realization that we are a work in progress. God is making us more like Jesus and transforming us from glory to glory with each passing day. "So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord -- who is the Spirit -- makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image." 2 Corinthians 3:18.
This chapter was written for women who have committed, surrendered, and completely given over the reigns of their lives to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is not for the faint of heart, but the standards in this chapter should encourage and challenge us to look to our Heavenly Father for guidance on how we too can be shaped into the image of the Proverbs 31 wife given our unique circumstances within our unique lives. No two wives' lives look the same. With that said, get what you can out of these devotions based on where you are, but don't leave without asking the Lord how He wants to transform you in the specific areas discussed.
We are going to tackle Proverbs 31 in verses, sections of verses, and even overarching themes. I'm certain no two days will look the same. So with no further delay, let's hop into a devotion series on the Proverbs 31 wife. I hope this will be a practical guide to bring the Scriptures to life for the wife of 2018.
Lord - We ask you guide our hearts each and every day. We surrender our lives as wives to You as You transform our spirits to look more like yours. We know we aren't expected to be the perfect wife; rather, we are asked to look to You for all we need, want or imagine. Today, we look to your Holy Spirit to guide us through this series with gentleness, yet boldness. Graciously point out areas where we need to improve, while confirming to us areas where You have already been working in us. May we bless our husbands and children as we grow in the knowledge of who You desire us to be as wives and mothers. Thank you for your goodness in our lives. Amen
